There are going to be times in your life when you are going to have to stand for what you know is right.
I know something about this.
I have been a whistleblower inside an organization big enough to topple several cities and countries, and does so without apology.
Who am I to fight?
Well, no one, really.
But there is something greater than fear.
Greater than your excuses.
Greater than your pity parties.
There is God.
There is a peace that pierces through the greatest ego and humbles us enough to live more presently, more openly, more completely united with what we are doing.
Whatever this it is, you are doing it.
You are in it.
It is living through you.
Sometimes life takes the weakest, most insignificant person and creates a strength in them that surprises even the person who has been given it.
The more deeply you come to understand life, the more you begin to see that everything is perfect as it is, in whatever form it takes.
Because everything is ultimately good.
Everything is ultimately God.
So when something comes before you that is illegal, that is harmful, that is destroying the very people who are supposed to be protected by the institution itself, you will speak.
You will stand.
And you will begin to ask yourself harder questions:
Where do I participate in this harm?
Where do I conjure this harm?
Where am I contributing to the very thing I am standing against?
These questions change the fight.
They bring you back to yourself.
They bring you back to God.
They bring you back to the place where you are no longer fighting simply because you are angry, afraid, offended, or convinced that someone else is wrong.
You are standing because something in you knows that you must.
And then you discover something extraordinary.
You are not doing this alone.
Life moves through you.
God moves through you.
Strength appears where you did not know you had any.
You may be the weakest person in the room.
You may be the least significant person in the institution.
You may be the person nobody expected to speak.
And still, life can choose you.
It can take the smallest vessel and carry something enormous through it.
This is what happens when you stop relying on yourself alone.
You speak.
You stand.
You become willing.
And then you watch what happens.
You may be amazed at who life chooses.
You may be even more amazed at what it can do through them.
