When You Get Out of Your Own Way, This Happens

When we get out of our own way, guilt moves. When we get out of our own way, resistance moves. When we get out of our own way, insecurity and fear move.

Peace moves it, not resistance.

Resistance takes life and impurifies it with religion, a system, or a habit of doing things. We build habits every day, and to lose those habits, we must practice every day at non-resistance. It is hard, especially at first, because the body will work against you, and so will the mind. They work together, so it is going to feel strange. And anything that feels strange or hard, we are hardwired to stop immediately—and then, as we do, blame the process, the person, or the one reminding us to return.

Getting out of your own way means you feel the life moving through you. If it’s guilt, it’s guilt. And you do not make choices from it. If it’s anger, it’s anger. So what?

Underneath it all is life.

And when you surrender yourself for something greater, presence walks. Presence moves. And you remember:

I am this movement.
I am this presence.
And I will keep moving in it, deeper now, deeper still.
