Death Is Not the End of Relationship

Death is often experienced as the stopping of life.

This is how the body and mind first receive it. What we cannot touch, what we cannot see, what is no longer physically present, we often experience as gone.

But when we close our eyes, something else happens.

When the body relaxes and the noise of the external world becomes quiet, we can encounter death differently. We are no longer trying to force it to be something it is not. We are not trying to make death positive or make life something it is not. We simply allow ourselves to see what is there.

This is relationship.

Even the death of someone we love does not erase the relationship. They become an image carried within us. We can see them without closing our eyes. We can feel their presence even when they are no longer physically beside us. Memory itself becomes a living connection.

The power of human consciousness is that what has touched us remains with us.

When we begin to understand that life is constantly changing form, we loosen our grip on the things we believe must remain permanent. We cling less tightly to objects, identities, circumstances, and even the physical expressions through which we experience life.

We begin to see movement.

Everything is moving.

Everything is changing.

Everything is happening now.

The past is alive through memory.

The future is alive through possibility.

And both exist only through this present moment.

When we learn to live within this now, something changes within us. We become more honest. More aware. More present. More alive.

Strength and courage naturally emerge because we are no longer spending all of our energy fighting the reality of change. We stop trying to hold still what was always meant to move.

We begin to see that life is not defined only by the forms it takes.

Life is the movement itself.

And when we recognize that, we no longer live only in fear of what can be lost.

We begin to live in relationship with what has always been here.
