You speak long before your mouth opens.
Your thoughts express you before your voice ever does. Your attention, your posture, your silence, your presence—they all communicate something before a single word is spoken.
We all sense this.
We all read it.
Yet what we are reading is never separate from ourselves.
What you experience in another is happening within your own mind. It is happening within your own body. This is how intimate life truly is. We imagine experience exists somewhere “out there,” yet everything we know is unfolding within consciousness.
Children often reveal this most clearly. Long before they learn to justify their reactions, they will tell you they do not feel comfortable around someone, or that they feel safe in another person’s presence. They cannot always explain why. They simply know.
Perhaps it is because they have not yet learned to argue with what they perceive. They have not yet spent years dividing experience into stories, identities, and judgments. They respond before they explain.
As we grow older, we often become more fluent in language while becoming less fluent in listening.
Life is happening.
We know this because we experience joy.
We know this because we experience sorrow.
We know this because we experience longing, fear, peace, excitement, grief, and wonder.
Whatever appears, life is moving.
And so are you.
You are thinking.
You are feeling.
You are expressing.
Not only through words, but through the quality of your own being.
Communication is always taking place. Most of it is never spoken.
We recognize tension before it is admitted.
We recognize peace before it is explained.
We recognize love before it is declared.
Not because we possess some extraordinary ability, but because life continually reveals itself through us as we participate in it.
When you begin to love your own mind, you stop fearing what it reveals. You recognize that what you experience is not separate from you. You become aware of the silent language beneath conversation—the language of presence, attention, and consciousness itself.
Then something softens.
You stop trying to force understanding.
You begin to listen.
Not merely to words, but to life expressing itself through every person you meet.
We all participate in the same mystery.
The same life gives itself to each of us.
To know.
To hold.
To express.
And finally…
To surrender.
For beneath every voice is the same silence.
Beneath every expression is the same life.
And beneath every life…
the same love.
