When You Fear Your Enemy

When you fear God, you are fearing a part of life that is your own.

The old still exists within the new.

The past does not disappear simply because something new has arrived. Old and new are always working together, moving through the same life. They are not truly separate. They are two expressions of one existence.

You can see this within yourself.

You can know you need to leave someone and still choose to stay.

You can feel anger and compassion at the same time.

You can carry grief and gratitude in the same breath.

Two experiences, seemingly divided, born from one life.

Life is not as divided as we imagine.

It is always present.

Always existing.

Always here.

This one life speaks to us through everything we encounter—including the people we struggle to understand.

Especially our enemies.

The person who annoys you, frustrates you, or triggers something within you is revealing something that has entered your awareness. Something is arising within the relationship between you and them.

You are witnessing consciousness meeting itself.

Your enemy is angry.

Your enemy is expressing pain, fear, certainty, or judgment.

And if you are not grounded in yourself—if you forget to observe life as it appears and disappears—you enter the same consciousness.

You become what you believe you are fighting.

And the world may applaud you for it.

It may reward your anger.

It may call your destruction righteousness.

It may even pay you handsomely to continue believing you are the one saving the world from evil.

But there is a danger in this.

Anything a person steps into solely to fight, they risk becoming.

The hatred you oppose can become your own hatred.

The cruelty you resist can become your own cruelty.

The fear you battle can become the force guiding your actions.

Presence is where fear and love return to one source.

It is not weakness.

It is not surrender to injustice.

It is the humility of standing before life without needing to possess it, control it, or become consumed by it.

In presence, you see clearly.

You act without hatred.

You speak without losing yourself.

You meet what is before you without allowing it to take residence within you.

You fear nothing because you are no longer separate from life itself.

You stand humbled before existence.

And in this grounding, you allow life to be what it is.

Not because everything is acceptable.

But because you have remembered.

You remember where you come from.

And you remember where you are going.
