When a person becomes consumed by ego, they begin to build a fence around a desire.
They say:
I am this.
I am that.
I am my success.
I am my status.
I am my race.
I am my wealth.
I am my career.
The ego takes something that is part of life and turns it into the entirety of life.
It is the solidification of a dream.
A thought becomes an identity.
An identity becomes a structure.
A structure becomes a wall.
And then we spend our lives protecting the wall from falling.
We fear losing what we believe makes us who we are, so we hold tighter. We work harder. We defend more. We separate ourselves from others.
But everything that enters physical form is already moving toward change.
The moment something appears, it begins transforming.
The body changes.
The mind changes.
The circumstances change.
The identities we create change.
The ego struggles because it wants permanence from something that was never meant to remain the same.
When the ego falls, another dream does not disappear.
Another form emerges.
Life continues expressing itself.
The difference is that we no longer mistake the expression for the source.
Dying to the self does not mean abandoning humanity.
It does not mean losing individuality.
It does not mean becoming without personality, passion, creativity, or purpose.
It means no longer being so attached to the self-created image that we cannot walk alongside another person.
We remain unique.
We remain ourselves.
But we recognize that everyone else is also walking their own path, carrying their own story, experiencing their own expression of life.
We share wealth.
We create wealth.
We lose wealth.
We gain and lose possessions, positions, and identities.
But something deeper remains.
Something that cannot be measured by what we own or what others see.
A spirit that exists beyond the walls we build around ourselves.
When we become trapped in ego, we become trapped in the outer forms: identity, status, religion, appearance, and the stories we use to separate ourselves.
But beneath all of those things is something more fundamental.
Something that connects rather than divides.
The first movement is always inward.
The return begins within.
Something is being born in us now.
Not a rejection of life, but a deeper relationship with it.
When ego falls into its proper place, it no longer rules. It becomes a tool rather than a master.
And when that happens, life begins to flow again.
Creativity returns.
Compassion returns.
Joy returns.
Abundance returns.
The gifts of the world can be received without becoming a prison.
Riches can be enjoyed without becoming an identity.
Pleasure can be experienced without becoming an attachment.
Because life was never meant to be possessed.
It was meant to be lived.
The purpose was never to destroy the self.
It was to know the self clearly enough that the self could finally serve something greater.
