The Gift of Anger

When you become angry, something is trying to speak to you.

You are being shown something about yourself, about another person, about the world you are experiencing.

There are two movements within us that appear separate but are deeply connected: the part of us that experiences life and the awareness that can witness that experience.

The human self feels.

The higher self observes.

The mind moves through the emotion, while awareness holds the emotion.

Anger is a powerful teacher.

It can tell you when something feels wrong. It can reveal when a boundary has been crossed, when dignity has been ignored, when something within you recognizes injustice or harm.

Anger is not the enemy.

Anger is a tool.

It is neither good nor bad. It is energy. It is information. It is a moment arising within life.

But anger is not life itself.

It is something appearing within life.

It arrives.

It speaks.

It moves through.

And then something new has the opportunity to be born.

The danger comes when we become the anger instead of listening to it.

When one person dismisses another, something happens beyond that single moment. A person learns what dismissal feels like. A story is created. One experience can become a lens through which the world is viewed.

One person can become a symbol for many.

This is true not only with dismissal, but with every emotion. Fear, love, shame, compassion, resentment, joy—all are moments in time. Moments of creation appearing within consciousness.

They are experiences we move through, not the entirety of who we are.

When we understand that this one life appears as many, we begin to recognize our responsibility.

The way I treat one person matters.

The words I choose matter.

The emotions I carry into the world matter.

Anger can be used to create clarity, to speak truth, to protect what matters. But without awareness, it can become destructive. It can wound another person. It can break trust. It can damage a spirit in ways that are invisible but deeply lasting.

A wound created by words can sometimes linger as deeply as a physical wound.

This is why self-control is not the rejection of emotion.

It is the honoring of emotion.

It is understanding the power moving through you and choosing how that power will be expressed.

Anger is not something to destroy.

It is something to understand.

It is a messenger, not the master.

And when we learn to listen without becoming consumed, something new is created within us.

A greater compassion.

A deeper awareness.

A wiser way of being.

Born in us.

Born through us.

For our own becoming, and for the becoming of the whole.
