Love as Recognition

When two people love one another, they know each other through themselves.

They know what abandonment feels like because they have felt abandonment. They know anger, sadness, joy, fear, and hope because these movements of life have passed through them as well. They recognize the other not as something separate, but as another expression of the same human experience.

And they cover one another.

Notice I did not say they change one another. I did not say they reject one another. They empathize. They hold the kingdom, the sacred space between them, and they allow.

Allowing carries a freedom that rejection never can.

Allowing says: let consciousness, let life, appear in whatever form it takes. Let it arrive dressed in anger, dressed in fear, dressed in sorrow. Love does not say, Do not be that.

Love says:

I see you.
I recognize you.
I understand you.
I will walk with you.

But when force, control, and domination enter a relationship, no one is truly seeing anymore. There is too much urgency, too much speed, too much fear. There is no room for recognition. No room for stillness. No room for God—the place where the divided self returns to wholeness, where two people stop fighting for existence and begin helping each other exist.

Love does not look at anxiety and say, Stop being anxious.

That is only fear of anxiety itself.

Love says, I see your anxiety. What can I do? How can I be with you?

Because what we reject does not disappear. It grows. It hardens. It becomes something solid within the universe, something others begin to touch, respond to, and eventually experience not only as a feeling, but as a self.

Love moves where pride cannot.

Love does not destroy. Love transforms.

And those who stand fully in its presence may feel destroyed—not because love harms them, but because what was false, defended, and divided can no longer survive.

From that ending, another life is born.

Not by force.
Not by control.
Not by might.

But by recognition.

I recognize you as myself.

And because I recognize you, I will not do you harm.
